-
🟡 Essential Amino Acids 4/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This range allows for effective nutritional rotation; however, the low meat content makes it harder to balance amino acids, vitamins and minerals.
-
🌾 Carbohydrate Balance 3/5 ⭐⭐⭐
This range relies more on carbohydrates than maybe necessary, though the sources are still digestible and of reasonable quality.
-
🟦 Biological Suitability 2/5 ⭐⭐

🚨 Caution: Low Meat Content in Dog Food
Some dog foods contain low levels of meat content, which may seem balanced, but can lead to serious nutritional shortfalls if not properly formulated. When meat content is too low, the risk of protein deficiency and reliance on fillers increases significantly.
🔴 What happens when a dog's diet is too low in meat?
Incomplete Protein Profile – Dogs require essential amino acids that are primarily found in high-quality meat sources.
Reduced Muscle Maintenance – Insufficient protein can lead to muscle loss and weakness over time.
Lower Digestibility – Many low-meat foods rely on plant proteins and fillers, which can be harder for dogs to process.
Poor Coat & Skin Health – Lack of quality animal proteins reduces natural oils, leading to a dull coat and increased shedding.
Energy Deficiency – A low-meat diet can cause reduced stamina and fatigue.
👉 Less meat does not mean better balance. A properly formulated diet should ensure that essential nutrients are met without excessive reliance on cheap fillers.
🚀 Solution?
Choose a food with a well-balanced protein source or supplement with high-quality natural treats.

💡 Our Recommendations

Rotation - Your Most Important Nutritional Strategy
🐾 No matter what food your dog eats, rotation is always recommended where possible to increase the probability of better all-round nutrition.
🔄 We highly recommend rotating within the same brand whenever possible. 🐶
This range includes the following rotation options: Chicken, Fish & Lamb. The variety available allows for effective nutritional rotation, helping to balance amino acids, vitamins, and minerals over time.

Natural Dog Treats
💡 Why Might Treats Be Considered?
All treats should serve a nutritional purpose. They either balance the dogs diet filling nutritional gaps, support digestion or promote joint/coat health.
This food meets basic nutritional standards, but treats may be used to provide additional benefits such as improved joint health, digestion, or protein balance.
Recommended Treats to Complement Burns Original Adult Dry Dog Food
✅ Beef Liver - A nutrient-dense treat high in Vitamin A, iron, and essential amino acids, promoting healthy vision and immune function.
✅Chicken Feet - A natural source of collagen and glucosamine, helping maintain joint health and skin elasticity.
✅ Paddywack- A high-protein, tough chew that strengthens jaw muscles and supports dental hygiene.
✅ Moon Bone - A natural source of calcium and phosphorus, supporting strong bones and teeth.
🚨 Caution: Treats should always be given in moderation. Even natural treats contribute to daily nutrition intake, so they should be part of a balanced feeding plan to avoid excess.

Supplements
💡Why Might Supplements Be Considered?
This food meets basic nutritional requirements but may benefit from additional support. Digestive aids, omega fatty acids, and joint supplements can help compensate for areas where the formulation may be lacking.

Whole Foods - Additional Nutrients
Looking to enhance your dog’s diet naturally, whole foods can be a great way to introduce additional nutrients.
Even the healthiest whole foods can turn a well-balanced diet into something excessive if portion control is ignored. More nutrition doesn’t always mean better, it often means overload, leading to toxicity, digestive issues, or long-term organ strain.
✔ Whole foods should complement, not compete with a balanced diet.
✔ If you’re adding whole foods regularly, you must reduce the main food accordingly.
✔ If you have any questions about whole foods contact us to ensure the diet stays safe, balanced, and beneficial.
